A respectable Hindu female. aged 35, who, about 6 years ago, was in the habit of taking a grain of onium daily, took on the morning (4 A. m.) of the 26th March about 16 grains of Morphias acetas by mistake for soda, in an ounce of water. As soon as she drank it, and knew from its bitter taste that it was not soda, she informed her husband (who is in the habit of taking daily 12 grains of Morphise acetas besides 10 grains of opium), who, looking at his empty morphia phial, at once concluded that she must have taken morphia, gave her as soon as possible some salt
